Including a total of 30 members The WiGig Alliance embraces all major Wi-Fi chipmakers. It wants a standard radio platform for the 60 GHz millimeter-wave band. In most international regulatory domains like the US this wave band is available with different allotments.
According to the announcement made on the month of December, the Wi-Fi chip makers group expanded its membership over the last few months. They finalized the spec which according to them is going to be released on the first quarter of the year 2010. In an early draft, from about 6 Gbps the spec will hit to 7 Gbps through per channel.
Working on the same band, manufacturing a single radio is the goal of the alliance. It will be equally flexible and allow devices of high performance and low performance to function properly. It will also allow data, videos and other kinds transmissions to work smoothly.
It is the most important part of the spec’s development that a desire was there to have wireless devices or Wi-Fi devices working at lower powers and at low data rates. This gave Wi-Gig the chance of continuing with what spec they are making.
The Wi-Gig group has extended the spec on video that is entirely backwards compatible. The compatibility including the security is with the existing Wi-Fi standards at the MAC level. Use this particular band space for your utmost convenience.
