How to Get Rid of Computer Lock-up Problem

What if you are middle of your important task and your PC keeps mum? It’s a common problem among many of us. It’s a computer lock-up.

But what is it?
A lock-up is, as the name entails, a dead-stop situation of the computer. You try to move the cursor but the mouse does not work. You try to type or give a command to your PC, but it does not respond. Even you resort to the Task Manager but that also fails. What do you do? If I guess right, you just switch off your PC and get it restarted. But there are some common problems that lie behind this occurrence of lock-up. Let’s chalk out these reasons.

What are the reasons?

There are plenty of reasons for a lock-up, but the familiar ones are: Windows 95/98 volatility, PC running out of memory, incompatibility of software and virus infectivity. They can be put in order to have a brief idea as well as find the way out.

User Settings:

When you are about to install Windows, your personal settings are built up for a user log in. this setting consists of Windows security and registry and network connections. The whole course of action takes a toll on your computer and as a result the computer gets bogged down.
If this happens, simply check the available disk space of your PC as this is required for fragmentation. Check out the network connectivity to make sure that you can reinstate it later. In a domain based setting, your computer’s connectivity creates a problem. As your PC gets connected to the domain host, the problem occurs.

Blue Screen of Death
When your PC is literally out of order, you might face a blue screen with eerie figures. Actually, most lock-ups fall to this category. It indicates that you have installed a substandard device driver, provided your computer is not virus-affected.
If this happens, boot your PC in safe mode. Doing this will relinquish many of your computer’s working systems. The problem might be hiding behind these systems. After your PC is set in safe mode, you can use system-file checker, antivirus etc.
Sometimes the safe mode does not get into action. In that case, use the PC’s Recovery Console. Install it along with Windows.

Lock-up Before the Appearance of Windows Logo

It happens that nothing comes on the screen after the PC is on.
If this happens, you need recovery console that you will find on the installation CD.
It will enable you to copy the files and restart the installation process. In this way, you can also repair the master boot record.

Defective Operating System

You can get worried as you do not find the Operating System on your system. It involves that the hard disk of your PC has lost it.
If this happens, go to your taskbar and click on ‘Start’ and follow these steps:
• Go to ‘Settings’>’Control Panel’
• Click ‘Control Panel’>’System’
• Click on ‘Performance’
• Click on ‘Graphics’
• Move the ‘Hardware Acceleration’ slider to the left
• Click ‘OK’ to exit
• Restart your PC.
