Microsoft’s new Operating System, Windows 7 has set a new stir in the market and its selling like hotdogs. Windows 7 has been sold 234 percent more copies than Vista did in its first few days of launch. A recent survey has reflected this statistics. The market is really hungry grabbing more copies of it.
The survey was commenced between the time period of 18th October and 22nd October. Windows 7 was actually released on 22nd October but it was previously open for free and discounted pre-sale. Before that, the Beta version was offered for free to most of the consumers. Various retail stores were the customer touch points for promotions and sales. So it can be said that the effective sales strategy of MS and the inherent qualities of Windows 7 has made it a buzz around.
Previously Vista did not beget that amount of profit and positive feedback from the users. Microsoft’s expectations got down to numerous necessary changes in it and the output was the new OS. On the other hand, Vista became a matter of almost every Microsoft joke. In fact, Windows 7 is like a weapon for the software giants to reinstate their reputation.
In order to do this, they had crafted their advertising and marketing strategies very well. But it is also quite evident from the survey report that people are only buying fresh copies of Windows 7 rather than purchasing the OS paired with new PCs. They are also, as far the trend goes, not opting for the Ultimate Edition which is eventually the most expensive version. However, it is time for partying for the big boys. The revenue generated from Windows 7 sales has surpassed Vista by 84percent!
