A chief Wiltshire town is going to become the first free Wi-Fi town in UK very soon. The municipality will offer free civic wireless internet connectivity to all the dwellers, as proclaimed by some news sources. The plan named as Swindon Borough Council Plan will ensure all the 186,000 citizens to have Wi-Fi Mesh coverage by next year.
The Council Authority made it pretty clear that there will br no charges for this Wi-Fi network and the line rental will be free too. Those who will subscribe to the service will be termed as Signal and they will have restricted access to the network and for 20MB updates they need to pay a certain amount of cash. But this charge will be considerably lower than existing broadband suppliers as the authorities have proclaimed.
The one million pound project is going to be launched by Digital City UK Ltd. Of which Swindon Borough Council has a 35% share. There will be near about 1400 secured Wi-Fi access points in and around Swindon. These access points will have a resemblance with Home Wi-Fi networks but will be much superior in range and quality.
If this goes all right, all the other city councils are going to adopt the innovation. Swindon Municipality is all optimistic about the plan launched. The pioneers should boast this way. They should. The service will also include free VOIP calls and remote medical discussion. Not only that, Antivirus software and other essential services will also be offered.
The first UK county is now making merry at this public Wi-Fi launch.
