Different Types of Networks

There are at least eight types of network used across the globe now-a-days for internet connectivity. These networks are used for both home and office purpose. They are differentiated in respect of their scale and range. LAN and WAN are used mostly but the other networks are also equally popular for different industries as their requirement is always different. LAN is the eldest of all as it was first invented to connect two computers. It works with the help of cables and network cards. Its descendant is WLAN which was created for wireless networking. But LAN is the base of all internet setup system.

Let’s take an overview of the LAN, WAN and WLAN, the three major networks:

LAN-Local Area Network

LAN hooks up all the gadgets within a specified periphery. It is used in home, internet cafes and small offices. It uses the TCP/IP network protocol and is often if not always put into practice as a distinctive IP subnet. It is generally operated in short area for internet setup hence it is controllable by a person or organization.

WAN-Wide Area Network

WAN, as the name implies covers a vast area for internet connectivity. The internet itself is a Wide Area Network (it covers the entire planet). WAN is basically a cluster of LANs. A network router usually connects LANs with WANs. It follows network protocols like ATM, Frame Relay etc. for long distance internet connectivity.

WLAN-Wireless Local Area Network

If a LAN is based on wireless network technology that is popularly termed as Wi-Fi it is called WLAN. As the name goes, it does not need any wire to connect networks. Radio signals are the means for connectivity. Wi-Fi network cards are requisite to be pre-installed in the gadgets for accessing any Wi-Fi network around. Wireless cards are used at most to connect computers.

There are some other networks on which I will put light later.

Windows 7 Desktop to be Sold to Advertisers

You must be aware that brand new ideas and innovations are very common with Microsoft and now it hopes to cash in on the Windows 7 launch with advertising campaigns. The popularity of Windows 7 has made the firm explore new avenues for growth and this pilot program will indicate the amount of dollars to be earned in the coming days.

After the international launch of
Windows 7
in October, this is the first time that Microsoft has announced a plan to earn from a direct advertising campaign on the brand. A series of well known brands like Porshe, Coke and Infiniti have been selected for the program. The various features in Windows 7 will help the advertisers to use themes like borders, backgrounds and audio inputs to make the branding very colorful.

A series of global advertisers intends to capitalize from this marketing strategy adopted by Microsoft and earn revenue from the Windows 7 desktop. One of the most interesting facts about the campaign is that the Theme Experience and Personalized Gallery which exists in Windows 7 will help the ads to be designed and then published on the desktop.

As new vistas of technology with articulate innovation has been a part of Microsoft for a long time, this kind of advertising plan can be a fitting way to rake up the profits. Space selling via desktop technology was unthinkable even ten years before but now the reality cannot be denied. If you are an advertiser and want to be a part of the pilot program, openings are still on. Already a wide range of companies from various parts of the globe have provided their consent to participate which includes major names like Ducati and Pepsi.

With the help of this campaign, desktop gadgets can also be created by adverts to increase traffic on their websites. The campaign sounds great and let’s hopes that it’s an unparalleled success.

Problems with USB Media Player

USB MP3 players are not any different from other electronic gadgets as they fall prey to many problems and issues. It is better to replace a corrupted MP3 player than to repair it because they are not so expensive. But prevention is always better than cure as goes the maxim. So, next time you face a problem with yours one, its advisable that you know your gadget well so that you can detect the problem and fix it at ease instead of taking it to the nearest technician. If it’s malfunctioning somehow, try to fix the problem sitting right at your home.

Failure of Disk

Generally there comes no clicking sound when you turn on your MP3 player. If that happens, it’s very much obvious that your hard drive is getting corrupted and the sooner you replace it the better it is for you. Though Flash based MP3 players (iPod Nano for example) do not have a hard drive. So if this happens in your iPod, look for a loose part that might have happened inside.

Battery problem

Always be certain that the battery is charged fully. Try to change your batteries after regular intervals and recharge it and turn on for use. If the indicator light does not emerge, its better you replace the battery or use a special USB port or power channel.

Setup and Jacks
Check the internal setup of an MP3 player before you use it. Always make sure that the hardware is in sound condition. Check the headphone jack, the battery cells and all other things that are visible to you. The headphone plug ought to be properly inserted into the MP3 player before using.

USB Port

The USB port is to be checked first to identify the MP3 Player. To do this, you need to check that the both ends of the cable are put in the MP3 Player and the computer’s USB port accurately. If that does not work well, try a different gadget. If that fails, the problem is with your computer’s USB port. Use a different USB port. If that also does not click, reinstall the USB drivers going to the Windows System Menu that is in the Control Panel.

Internet Set UpApplications has been one of the fortes of the firm and it is one of the major competitors of Google in the web market. Normally, when you log on to Google or any other major search engine, a list of websites related to the topic is presented to you. But over here, the marketing strategy adopted by Microsoft is completely different.

The propagator of Wolfram Alpha is famous British born scientist Stephen Wolfram who has revolutionized the theme of search engine technology.
