Google releases open code for Chrome

Google always keeps on invading new territories in the Internet and its latest target is your computer's operating system. Turning up in third-party vendors netbooks, it has officially released the open source code for its Chrome OS, an operating system. By next year those devices would start selling.

Like Windows, Mac OS, or even most Linux distributions, Google takes a very different approach with Chrome than major OSes. It is essentially a browser in the Internet that does not run on an operating system. All the data you save using it is stored in the cloud and its apps are Web apps. Very little data is actually saved on the computer's hard drive.

As an Internet user, one of its most useful benefits, as Google describes it is that boot-up times are extremely quick. Its security does not have any hassle and is easier to handle. Through this browser, you are not going to host any malware. If somebody pinches off your Chrome net book from Internet and your password is nice and safe, then you'll be able to reclaim all your data and settings. The regaining can be simple by signing on to another Chrome netbook -- which you'll have to buy, of course, but some data's worth more than a few hundred bucks.

Local desktop shortcuts are allowed by Chrome that opens web applications in the browser. Containing none of the regular interface the browser, when opened, only shows the title bar, so as not to "interrupt anything the user is trying to do." By this application the web applications is allowed to run alongside local software which is similar to Mozilla Prism and Fluid. No status bar is there in Chrome, but it displays loading activity on the Internet. Get going with Google Chrome and enjoy all the benefits as an user.

This amazing news ushers in a valuable marketing opportunity if you are running a small business house. It would not only widen your reach to the extensive number of social networking users on the world’s two most popular websites but it will also expand your marketing reach through Face book.

Once the process of integration is fully complete, this dual recipe will further enhance the capability of Yahoo and Facebook users to be in touch across a range of Internet networking sites including Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Finance and Yahoo Sports.

Among other highlights of this assimilation includes the capacity to connect with Facebook friends and share a variety of contents. Additional services include sharing of news stories and viewing live feeds from friends. You can also share your stories on Facebook from your Yahoo account through this new Internet pathway. Just log on to any of the websites and stay connected as always.

Internet Censhorship: a Virtual Scissor

Internet Censorship is the evaluation procedure or containment of the published or waiting to be published content on the internet. The legal issues are more alike to general censorship laws. But there are certain differences between offline censorship and online censorship. National borders are not any barrier for online content. If a country bans certain content of website or an entire website, it is possible for a citizen to go outside the country and access the content. However, a government can put step further by banning the objectionable website or certain content for its citizens.

Internet censoring can be based on a known blacklist or may go self-motivated to find newer websites or content to filter or block. The blacklisted sites or content doesn’t get an approval to come out or get published. The list can be created manually or robotically.

In North Korea, the government is pretty much rigid on the issue of cyber crime and internet pornography. The government has a total control over the websites inside its periphery. But it is not possible for all countries to implement a total internet censorship. It is next to impossible to achieve total censorship of the internet content. There are some technological way-out named as Pseudonymity and Data Havens which guarantees that a content can not e removed elsewhere.

In 2007, Vint Cerf who is called ‘The father of the Internet’ echoed some other socialists and politicians that internet censorship is not getting up to snuff because of private ownership of various websites.

Sony Goes Online for Brand Loyalty

As new trends and discoveries in the web world has made it ever popular than before, Sony is set to join the bandwagon by rolling out its online service. The service will be launched early next year to invite more traffic on the website.

If you are interested about the Internet and the recent moves by the major tech giants, Internet Set Up Applications features acts as a roadmap for building brand loyalty and revenue. Sony has a worldwide network of a sprawling electronics business and with the addition of this service, the company hopes to exhibit its comprehensive range of gadgets, games and movies on the Internet.

A team comprising the best professionals will design the portal and whatever content created for the purpose will be exclusively owned by Sony. It will provide the company with an additional edge over its competitors as most of them do not produce their own content. The firm wants to set a different experience for its consumers and they can easily download the content of their choice. But the market analysts are still doubtful about exactly how much sales output can be generated through this service.

Currently, the firm is experiencing an annual loss amounting to billions of dollars but it hopes to recover by the course of next three to four years. By the end of the financial year of 2013, the firm has a target of generating sales revenue of 3.4 billion dollars.

For Sony, there’s a mountain to climb and if you like the brand then you can check out its online service, when it’s finally launched.

Yahoo Follows Twitter for Better Search Results

As competition intensifies between the Internet majors to get more users on their search engines, Yahoo has decided to adopt Twitter’s way of acquiring popularity. Nowadays the Internet is flooded with search engines, social networking sites, blogs, forums and as a user your options are aplenty.

2009 has been a very eventful year for the web giants as new trends have been set with fresh deals, acquisitions and buyouts. Over the years, Yahoo has been one of pioneers on the web but recently it has realized the effect of the intense rivalry of
Internet Set Up
Applications.

Yes, competition is a very healthy sign in any business environment and from next Thursday on, Twitter’s messages will be taken up by Yahoo. Twitting will be a new buzzword at Yahoo and the Tweets will be added into the search results of the firm. The main purpose of the plan is to get the idea of the important topics which shows up through the Tweets and have an overview of the latest search trends.

Before the announcement from Yahoo, Microsoft and Google had also expressed their interest to adopt Twitter methods but Yahoo has won the race at least for now. New innovations in search engine technology will usher in a fresh lease of life in technological discoveries and the move from Yahoo will certainly make the researchers think on its impact. But in the long run Yahoo will have to rely on Microsoft for many inputs which it lacks in terms of technical back up.

Soon, Google and Microsoft will take the stance of Yahoo and Twitters massive popularity will lead them to adopt this measure. You must be wondering at which direction the Internet is moving and I would say it’s positive. For the time being, Yahoo has to rely on its own algorithms and identify the Tweets which are most imperative. To delve into the commercial aspect of the announcement, Yahoo is not paying a single penny to Twitter but for both of them branding will be a key to rule the roost.

The shrinking shares of Yahoo have provided them with a timely wake up call and this move signifies that they want to emerge victorious in the rivalry among search engines.

Must-have Features of Parental Control Software

The internet is the largest network of the world undoubtedly. Our families are quite open to the malicious contents found on the web. As we are getting increasingly intertwined to the internet, our loved ones are getting more and more exposed to internet pornography and violence. Internet Filter Software brings a strong layer of protection in addition. It enables parents to control their children’s online activities very well and stay in real peace of mind.

Internet Filter Software is a Parental Control Tool that will facilitate you to control displayed content on the web, block websites as well as set up passwords. You can just monitor your kid’s chat session, restrict it to a certain time limit and to some users, block the pop-ups and filter the emails that come on his or her way. There are so many products out there to obstruct the nasty porn sites but you should be very calculative to choose the right Parental Control Software for your child.

Features to be assessed before buying

The perfect Internet Filter Software is not yet out in the market. But there are some praise-worthy products that you may buy for your kid.
Just take a look at the features that should be assessed during your buy.

User Interface
The product should be easy to use and this is the most vital quality for an Internet Filter Software. Only then it can make possible for even a non-technical person to install it in their system and make the best out of it.

Powerful Filtering
A good Parental Control Software always presents a good equilibrium between filtering malicious content and not filtering excessively. Now that is truly desirable. If some useful sites get blocked because of a negligible amount of spiteful content blended with, nothing gets worse than it. A good Parental Control Software will definitely come up with the option for being tailored for different purpose.

Filtering Multiplicity
A high-quality Parental Control Software always accrues a blend of filtering methods like URL filtering, keyword filtering and self-motivated filtering. So next time you go for a buy, look for all these if possible.

Reporting of Goings-on
The most helpful Internet Filter Software is likely to monitor and report on whatsoever-going-on on the system when your dear kid is using it. It will give you a detailed report of the websites he or she has visited, chat-room conversations, IM sessions and much more.

Different Types of Networks

There are at least eight types of network used across the globe now-a-days for internet connectivity. These networks are used for both home and office purpose. They are differentiated in respect of their scale and range. LAN and WAN are used mostly but the other networks are also equally popular for different industries as their requirement is always different. LAN is the eldest of all as it was first invented to connect two computers. It works with the help of cables and network cards. Its descendant is WLAN which was created for wireless networking. But LAN is the base of all internet setup system.

Let’s take an overview of the LAN, WAN and WLAN, the three major networks:

LAN-Local Area Network

LAN hooks up all the gadgets within a specified periphery. It is used in home, internet cafes and small offices. It uses the TCP/IP network protocol and is often if not always put into practice as a distinctive IP subnet. It is generally operated in short area for internet setup hence it is controllable by a person or organization.

WAN-Wide Area Network

WAN, as the name implies covers a vast area for internet connectivity. The internet itself is a Wide Area Network (it covers the entire planet). WAN is basically a cluster of LANs. A network router usually connects LANs with WANs. It follows network protocols like ATM, Frame Relay etc. for long distance internet connectivity.

WLAN-Wireless Local Area Network

If a LAN is based on wireless network technology that is popularly termed as Wi-Fi it is called WLAN. As the name goes, it does not need any wire to connect networks. Radio signals are the means for connectivity. Wi-Fi network cards are requisite to be pre-installed in the gadgets for accessing any Wi-Fi network around. Wireless cards are used at most to connect computers.

There are some other networks on which I will put light later.

Microsoft and Wolfram Alpha Join Hands

Microsoft is one of the biggest players who excel in the tech market by exploring new ideas and converting them into reality. Technological innovations with an eye for its continuous upsurge are the buzzword of Microsoft and its one of the most enterprising companies of the new millennium.

Internet Set UpApplications has been one of the fortes of the firm and it is one of the major competitors of Google in the web market. Bing, the search engine of Microsoft has unveiled a tie- up with Wolfram Alpha, knowledge software which will answer your query as an user directly. Normally, when you log on to Google or any other major search engine, a list of websites related to the topic is presented to you. But over here, the marketing strategy adopted by Microsoft is completely different.

The propagator of Wolfram Alpha is famous British born scientist Stephen Wolfram who has revolutionized the theme of search engine technology. As an user, you don’t want a long list of websites to choose from and if you get your desired answer in the first scroll bar, you would surely have a beaming smile on your face. Searching on the web sometimes may be quite monotonous and this will surely reduce your stress level while finding the reply.

Bing was released with considerable hype by Microsoft in the earlier part of 2009, but the results haven’t paid off much. Revamping the look and technology behind the search engine has been a sincere effort on the part of the firm and a facelift in any way is a necessity. If there is a same kind of a success like
Windows 7
on this application as well, the firm will surely feel elated.

With the help of Application Programming Interface, Bing and Wolfram Alpha will function together and results of the latter will be exhibited in the Bing searches.

The primary searches which are being focused on revolve around food, nutrition and if you like it or not advanced mathematics.

It has been an eventful year for deals in the web market and let’s hope the next one comes first.
